ACTING FELLOWSHIP

The Oakland Theater Project’s Acting Fellowship provides an opportunity to study and perform as part of our professional theatre company for the Fall of 2025. You will learn about the business of acting, perform in our productions and a Fellowship Showcase, make valuable professional contacts, and earn professional production credits. We accept current college students, college graduates, and emerging professionals/performers. This program will give you tools to learn how to bridge the gap between building acting skills and working in the theatre profession. 

Fellows will

  • Gain admittance into our four-week Acting Intensive taught by our Artistic Director, Michael Moran.

  • Be offered ensemble casting in at least one of our mainstage productions: “Hamlet” by William Shakespeare, “The Courtroom” arranged by Arian Moyad, and “Cabaret” by Joe Masteroff, music by Fred Ebb 

    • Your casting will depend on your available dates, as well as the needs of each production.

  • Gain professional headshots and self-tape recording sessions with industry expert Adam Montanaro 

  • Perform in the Fellowship Showcase

Classes will be held during the day at Oakland Theater Project

  • Hamlet production schedule, to be performed at Marin Shakespeare Company: 

    • Rehearsals begin – July 28 

    • Tech Q2Q begins - Aug 26

    • Previews begin – Sept 4

    • Opens – Sept 7

    • Performances will be Thursday - Saturday at 7:30 pm with Sunday matinees at 2 pm

    • Closes – Sept 21

    • Possible Ext - Sept 28

  • The Courtroom production schedule, to be performed at OTP

    • Rehearsals Begin - Oct 13

    • Tech - Oct 15 

    • Opening - Oct 19

    • Closes - Oct 26 

    • No extension 

  • Cabaret production schedule, to be performed at OTP:

    • Rehearsals begin – Oct 13 

    • Tech Q2Q Begins - Nov 11

    • Previews begin – Nov 21

    • Opens – Nov 23

    • Performances will be Thursday - Saturday at 7:30 pm with Sunday matinees at 2 pm

    • Closes – Dec 21

    • Strike - Dec 22 - 30

  • Fellowship Showcase date TBD

  • Your headshot (or selfie)

  • Resume

  • If you are interested in being considered for our musical, please submit the musical requirements. If you are only interested in being considered for our plays, submit the straight play requirement. You are welcome and encouraged to submit for both!

    • Musical Requirement

      • Video audition singing sixteen bars of a song of your choice that highlights your vocal ability

      • 30-second video audition of dance/movement improv to show movement you enjoy doing most

    • Straight Play Requirement 

      • Video Audition of you performing your favorite monologue (2 minutes or less) 

        • If you have a Shakespearean monologue, use that one!
